From Puglia to Milan and Vice Versa
Giuseppe (a.k.a. Nonno Pep) was born in Laterza (Puglia Region, Italy), a charming town on the Murge Hills. Laterza is located just few kilometers away from the famous old city of Matera. Both Laterza and Matera were built on top of the “Gravina”, a breathtaking canyon also recognized as the biggest in Europe.
At 16 years old, Giuseppe moved to Milan in Northern Italy, where he later on met his wife Manuela and where they currently live. He’s still strongly attached to his hometown Laterza, so he regularly goes for visits whenever possible. For most of his life, he worked as a manager for multinational companies specializing in high-precision mechanic components, a job that took him to travel around all the continents of the planet.
Despite his international experience, he kept his passion for the beauty of his native Italian land and its products. It came very naturally to him that after retiring, he decided to rediscover his agricultural roots and go back to Laterza, where he acquired an Olive groove to which he dedicates a lot of his time and careful attention.
Manuela was born in Milan, Northern Italy, where she lived all her life. She’s truly passionate about Puglia and more in general about the Mediterranean regions of Italy. She was “adopted” by Laterza people and she actively participates in every aspect of the olive oil production.
For decades, Manuela worked as a professional accountant. Apart from all the practical activities related to farming, she’s also dedicated to the various aspects of managing, accounting and administrative operations.
She’s also known as a skilled cook and likes to experiment and be creative in using Extra Virgin Olive oil in many different ways. She also produces a great number of preserves with the fruits of the trees that also grow around their olive field.
A Great Passion for Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The choice to dedicate themselves to the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil stems from a deep admiration for the agriculture and the cuisine of Puglia region. Olives are the ultimate expression of taste, flavors and smells of this wonderful place and a significant part of the Mediterranean diet. The secular olive trees hold great stories and traditions, marking the life of the local communities and their ancestors.
After spending most of their lives living the city life, Nonno Pep and Nonna Manuela liked the idea to escape to the countryside and breath the good air of the hills of Puglia, strolling around the picturesque local villages and of course, enjoying the local cuisine and various typical local produce.

What we do
We spend a great amount of our time in our olive grove in Laterza in order to personally take care of all the important details in producing premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Every single tree is numbered, recorded and constantly monitored.
Our work follows the cycle of the local seasons when scheduling and implementing important activities such as plowing, pruning and control of parasites and other threats. All these are in preparation and are geared towards Autumn season – the time of the year dedicated to a demanding yet happy harvesting time.
Once our olives are harvested, we take them straight from our olive grove to a trusted mill where they are strictly cold-pressed within 24 hours.
